Sister taxa: Platycheirus freyeri, Platycheirus geminatus, Platycheirus haidingeri, Platycheirus infumatus, Platycheirus persistens
Type specimen: CU 19899, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Florissant, Fossil Stump Hill, which is in a Chadronian lacustrine - large shale in the Florissant Formation of Colorado.
