Holotype. A partial shell, now lost, first figured by Owen and Bell (1849, plate XXIII) (Figure 1.13-14). Neotype. The almost complete shell NHMUK 39449, which is the holotype of ‘Emys conybearii’ Owen, 1858 (Figure 1.1-8).

  • Dacochelys delabechei: BMNH 39257, a maxilla (the imperfect anterior portion of a mandible).
  • Emys conybearii: NHMUK 39449, a partial shell (partial shell). Its type locality is London Clay, Isle of Sheppey turtles, which is in a Ypresian marine claystone in the London Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
  • Emys delabechii: GSM 6634, a partial shell. Its type locality is London Clay, Isle of Sheppey turtles, which is in a Ypresian marine claystone in the London Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
  • Emys laevis: BMNH 37209, a partial shell (imperfect shell of an immature individual). Its type locality is London Clay, Isle of Sheppey turtles, which is in a Ypresian marine claystone in the London Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
