Type specimens:

  • Plesiochelys etalloni: MAJ 2005-11-1, a shell (a shell missing a large part of the carapace medially.). Its type locality is Forêt de Lect, pres de Moirans (Lect Forest), which is in a Tithonian marine horizon in France.
  • Plesiochelys langii: NMS 8515 (lectotype, see Anquetin 2015; formerly NMS 123), a partial shell (a subcomplete carapace missing the right and posterior margins). Its type locality is Limestone quarry within or around Solothurn, which is in a Kimmeridgian shallow subtidal limestone in the Reuchenette Formation of Switzerland.
  • Plesiochelys sanctaeverenae: NMS 8514 (lectotype; formerly NMS 118), a partial shell (a large carapace missing its lateral aspects). Its type locality is Limestone quarry within or around Solothurn, which is in a Kimmeridgian shallow subtidal limestone in the Reuchenette Formation of Switzerland.
  • Plesiochelys solodurensis: NMS 8693 (lectotype; formerly NMS 59), a partial shell (a dis- torted, subcomplete shell). Its type locality is Limestone quarry within or around Solothurn, which is in a Kimmeridgian shallow subtidal limestone in the Reuchenette Formation of Switzerland.
  • Stylemys hannoverana: GZG 773-35 (lectotype), a partial shell (an almost complete plastron, now lost). Its type locality is Tönjesbergs, near Hannover, which is in a Kimmeridgian marine horizon in Germany.
