Type specimens:
- Plastomenus thomasii: AMNH 6018, a partial shell. Its type locality is Cottonwood Creek badlands (Bridger B), which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.
- Plastomenus tantillus: AMNH 5980, a partial shell (nearly the complete carapace and the greater portion of the plastron). Its type locality is Near the mouth of Cottonwood Creek (Bridger B), which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.
- Plastomenus visendus: AMNH 1895, a shell. Its type locality is Rattlesnake Hills, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.
