Type specimen: SAM P17897, a mandible (left mandible lacking the ascending ramus and angle, with partial alveolus for I1, P3, M1-M3 present.). Its type locality is UCMP Locality V-6213, which is in an Oligocene/Miocene fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Wipajiri Formation of Australia.
