Type specimens:

  • Bienotherium yunnanense: IVPP VI, a skull. Its type locality is Tachung, Lufeng, which is in a Hettangian terrestrial mudstone in the Lufeng Formation of China.
  • Bienotherium elegans: IVPP V2, a skull. Its type locality is Shawan, Lufeng, which is in a Hettangian terrestrial sandstone in the Lufeng Formation of China.
  • Oligokyphus sinensis: IVPP V 4009, a mandible.
