Sister taxa: Bothriostylops notios, Bothriostylops progressus
Type specimen: IVPP V 13504, a partial skull (Fragmentary left and right upper jaws & left lower jaw). Its type locality is Nearby Datang Town (upper section), which is in a Paleocene terrestrial horizon in the Nongshan Formation of China.
Ecology: scansorial herbivore
Distribution: found only at Nearby Datang Town (upper section)
