Sister taxon: Mianeuretus mirabilis

Type specimen: USNM 495959, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Anvil Points, Kohls locality 40193, which is in a Bridgerian lacustrine - large lime mudstone in the Green River Formation of Colorado.
