Sister taxa: Neosteiromys bombifrons, Neosteiromys pattoni
Type specimen: MLP 91-IV-34c, a set of teeth (left M1 or M2). Its type locality is Cañadon del Tordillo, which is in a Colloncuran terrestrial tuff in the Collón Cura Formation of Argentina.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution: found only at Cañadon del Tordillo
