Sister taxon: Notonycteris magdalenensis
Type specimen: IGM-KU 9305, a tooth (complete left m1 in small fragment of the dentary bone.). Its type locality is Chepe site (La Venta) Kyoto University, which is in a Laventan terrestrial horizon in the Villavieja Formation of Colombia.
Ecology: volant omnivore
