Type specimens:
- Anthracosiro fritschii: BMNH I.1556, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Coseley, near Dudley (Johnson coll), which is in a Westphalian B interdistributary bay shale in the United Kingdom.
- Anthracosiro elongatus: Its type locality is Sarre-et-Moselle colliery, siège of Merlebach, pit 5, roof of vein 8, which is in a Westphalian D terrestrial shale in the Petite-Rosselle Formation of France.
