Type specimens:
- Eoscorpius mucronatus: GSM PF 1392. Its type locality is Dodworth, near Barnsley, which is in a Westphalian A terrestrial shale in the Parkgate Coal Formation of the United Kingdom.
- Europhthalmus longimanus: BMNH In. 39766. Its type locality is Phoenix Brickworks, Crawcrook (BMNH coll), which is in a Westphalian B delta plain shale in the United Kingdom.
