Sister taxon: Culicoides (Oecacta) dasyheleiformis
Type specimen: MZW 11926, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Baltic Amber (Museum Ziemi collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Poland.

Distribution: found only at Baltic Amber (Museum Ziemi collection)
