Belongs to Hyla according to W. A. Auffenberg 1956
Sister taxa: Hyla arborea, Hyla baderi, Hyla barbudensis, Hyla cinerea, Hyla europaea, Hyla gratiosa, Hyla miocenica, Hyla squirella, Hyla versicolor
Type specimen: MCZ 2277, a limb element (partial right ilium). Its type locality is Thomas Farm, which is in a Hemingfordian terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the Alachua Formation of Florida.
Ecology: amphibious carnivore
Distribution: found only at Thomas Farm
