Sister taxon: Orobittacus minutus
Type specimen: PIN 2066/1239, a forewing. Its type locality is Karatau-Mikhailovka (PIN collection 2066), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan.
