Sister taxon: Tanymykter brachyodontus

Type specimen: CM 2498, a partial skeleton (Skull, lower jaws, greater portion of the neck, fragments of humerus, and ulno-radius). Its type locality is Whistle Creek (Upper), which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Marsland Formation of Nebraska.
