Sister taxon: Jurosmylus atalantus
Type specimen: PIN 2554/765, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Karatau-Mikhailovka (PIN collection 2554), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan.
