Sister taxa: Truyolsoceras clarkei, Truyolsoceras keyserlingi, Truyolsoceras retro, Truyolsoceras sandbergeri
Type specimen: AMNH 5888/1, a shell. Its type locality is Corell's Point, shore of Lake Erie, which is in a Famennian marine shale in the Gowanda Formation of New York.
