Sister taxa: Palaeonornis, Palaeonornis struthionoides

Type specimen: Williams College uncat., now USNM 214513, a partial skeleton (Five teeth, vertebral centrum, vertebrae and ribs, neural spine, fragment of interclavicle). Its type locality is New Egypt coal mine, which is in a Norian terrestrial horizon in the Cumnock Formation of North Carolina.

• Triassic of United States (4: New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania collections)

Total: 4 collections each including a single occurrence
