Sister taxa: Brachyhipposiderus hunanensis, Brachyhipposiderus secundus
Type specimen: NMVP74419. Its type locality is NMVPL184. Digger Island. Waratah Bay, which is in a Lancefieldian marine mudstone in the Digger Island Formation of Australia.
Ecology: fast-moving low-level epifaunal suspension feeder
