Sister taxon: Planetochelys savoiei
Type specimen: UCMP 120000, a partial skeleton (right and left P1-11, nuchal, N1-5, right C2-4, left C2; plastron lacking posterior margin of xiphiplastra; damaged skull; incomplete dentary; fragments of arti). Its type locality is UCMP V77050, which is in a Wasatchian terrestrial horizon in the Wasatch Formation of Wyoming.
