Sister taxon: Distylomys qianlishanensis
Type specimen: AMNH 114262, a mandible. Its type locality is Tairum Nor (AMNH and SSPE), which is in a Miocene terrestrial sandstone/mudstone in the Tunggur Formation of China.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution: found only at Tairum Nor (AMNH and SSPE)
