Sister taxon: Gashternia ctalehor
Type specimen: MCN-PV 1801, a maxilla (fragment of left maxilla with complete P3 and M1, and roots M2). Its type locality is São José de Itaborai, which is in an Eocene fissure fill marl in the Itaboraí Formation of Brazil.
Ecology: scansorial omnivore
Distribution: found only at São José de Itaborai
