Type specimens:

  • Dinogorgon rubidgei: RC 1, a partial skull. Its type locality is Wellwood (Cistecephalus Assemblage Zone), which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial mudstone in the Balfour Formation of South Africa.
  • Dinogorgon oudebergensis: RC 103, a skull. Its type locality is Oudeberg (Pass and Plateau) - Dicynodon Assemblage Zone, which is in a Wuchiapingian/Changhsingian terrestrial horizon in South Africa.
  • Dinogorgon quinquemolaris: GPIT K16, a skull. Its type locality is Kingori locality, Ruhuhu Basin, which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial horizon in the Usili Formation of Tanzania.
  • Prorubidgea robusta: BP/1/249, a partial skeleton (A well-preserved skull with lower jaw, cervical vertebrae, and a hand covering part of the skull). Its type locality is Poortjie, Graaff-Reinet, which is in a Wuchiapingian/Changhsingian terrestrial siliciclastic in South Africa.
