Sister taxon: Pleurosaurus goldfussi

Type specimen: Pleurosaurus cf. goldfussi L. Ginsburg and G. Mennessier 1970 (MNHN specimen), a partial skeleton (skull and partial skeleton). Its type locality is Canjuers-Les Bessons quarry (micronatum biozone), which is in a Tithonian lagoonal lime mudstone/mudstone in France.

Distribution: found only at Canjuers-Les Bessons quarry (micronatum biozone)
