Type specimens:

  • Daeodon shoshonensis: AMNH 7387, a mandible (mandibular symphysis)
  • Ammodon leidyanum: YPM 12040, a tooth (right p4). Its type locality is Farmingdale, which is in a Hemingfordian terrestrial horizon in the Kirkwood Formation of New Jersey.
  • Dinohyus mento: Its type locality is Ashley River (Miocene Marl), which is in a Miocene marine marl in South Carolina.

Ecology: ground dwelling omnivore

• Oligocene of United States (1: South Carolina)
