Type specimen: OU 12918, a partial skeleton (partial immature cranium with associated left and right tympanoperiotics, mandibles, atlas, axis, cervical and thoracic vertebrae, ribs, and fragmentary scapula). Its type locality is J40/f70 - Waihao River [Kokoamu Greensand], which is in a Whaingaroan coastal sandstone in the Kokoamu Greensand Formation of New Zealand.
