Sister taxon: Mammalodon colliveri

Type specimen: OU 22026, a partial skull (dorsal part of braincase, comprising much of the supraoccipital and parts of the parietals and squamosals, preserved with the original dorsal surface down, and ). Its type locality is Haughs Quarry [Kokoamu Greensand], which is in a Duntroonian marine sandstone/limestone in the Kokoamu Greensand Formation of New Zealand.

Distribution: found only at Haughs Quarry [Kokoamu Greensand]
