Sister taxa: Archiulus brassi, Archiulus euphoberioides, Archiulus lyelli, Archiulus xylobioides
Type specimen: USNM PAL37993. Its type locality is Morris, Mazon Creek (J.C. Carr coll), which is in a Westphalian D interdistributary bay mudstone in the Carbondale Formation of Illinois.
