Sister taxa: Paraphiomys knolli, Paraphiomys pigotti
Type specimen: AD 408'97, a mandible. Its type locality is Arrisdrift, which is in a Miocene channel sandstone in Namibia.
Ecology: ground dwelling grazer
Distribution: found only at Arrisdrift
