Sister taxa: Cratotabanus cearensis, Cratotabanus newjerseyensis, Cratotabanus stonemyomorphus

Type specimen: AMNH Bu-SE3/2, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Burmese amber, Kachin amber (AMNH collection), which is in a Cenomanian terrestrial amber in Myanmar.

Distribution: found only at Burmese amber, Kachin amber (AMNH collection)
