Sister taxa: Nicolella actoniae, Nicolella alliku, Nicolella oswaldi, Nicolella patens, Nicolella pterygoidea, Nicolella strasburgensis, Nicolella sylvatica

Type specimen: BC 59840, a valve (ventral valve internal mould). Its type locality is Quarry at Talfan Farm, west of Llanddowror, which is in a Cautleyan carbonate limestone in the Sholeshook Formation of the United Kingdom.
