Sister taxa: Eobranisamys riverai, Eobranisamys romeropittmanae
Type specimen: MUSM 1897, a tooth. Its type locality is CTA-27, which is in a Priabonian/Rupelian terrestrial claystone in the Pozo Formation of Peru.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution: found only at CTA-27
