Sister taxa: Foxomomys fremdi, Foxomomys vossae
Type specimen: UM 77528, a mandible (Left dentary with p4, root of i1, alveoli for c1-p3, and m1). Its type locality is Schaff Quarry, which is in a Tiffanian terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Wyoming.
Ecology: arboreal omnivore
Distribution: found only at Schaff Quarry
