Sister taxa: Japonoscutellum geniculatum, Japonoscutellum japonicum

Type specimen: PA 18088, a pygidium. Its type locality is new trilobite collection, Gomi Quarry, which is in a Ludlow reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks/shale in the Fukata Formation of Japan.

Ecology: nektobenthic carnivore

Distribution: found only at new trilobite collection, Gomi Quarry
