Sister taxon: Menatops orbiculatus
Type specimen: MNHN.F.A57524, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Menat southeast outcrop (MNHN collection), which is in a Selandian crater lake diatomite in the Menat Formation of France.

Distribution: found only at Menat southeast outcrop (MNHN collection)
