Type specimen: NHMUK R5871, a partial skeleton (subcomplete shell with associated postcranial remains, including parts of the girdles, the left humerus, and partial cervical vertebrae). Its type locality is Swindon Recreation Ground, which is in a Kimmeridgian marine claystone in the Kimmeridge Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
