Sister taxon: Chroniosaurus dongusensis
Type specimen: SGU 104B/1102, an osteoderm. Its type locality is Mutovino locality, PIN 3711, 3713, which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial lime mudstone in the Poldarsa Formation of the Russian Federation.
