Type specimens:
- Cardipeltis wallacii: Numbers 601 and 602, Vertebrate Paleontology, University of Mis-souri, a skeleton (the natural mold of both the dorsal and ventral surfaces of a fairly complete dorsal shield)
- Cardipeltis oblongus: PU 13514, a partial skeleton ( A dorsal shield in grey limestone).
- Cardipeltis sinclairi: PU 13515, a partial skeleton (A dorsal shield in counterpart in grey limestone).
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at Beartooth Butte 2 (Devonian of Wyoming)
