Type specimen: AMU-CURS 765, a skull (Skull with left I1 and P3–M3 and right P3–M1 in situ, and associated right I2, M2, and M3. Alveoli of the other teeth are preserved. Mandible with complete dent). Its type locality is Upper Algodones Member, which is in a Pliocene/Pleistocene terrestrial sandstone in the Codore Formation of Venezuela.
