Type specimens:

  • Moschops capensis: AMNH 5550, a skull. Its type locality is Spitzkop, Graaff-Reinet, which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial siliciclastic in South Africa.
  • Moschognathus whaitsi: AMNH 5602, a partial skull. Its type locality is "Near Beaufort West", which is in a Capitanian terrestrial siliciclastic in South Africa.
