Sister taxon: Dilophosaurus wetherilli
Type specimen: KMV 8701, a skeleton. Its type locality is Qinglongshan near Muchulang village, Dilophosaurus sinensis holotype, which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian terrestrial horizon in the Lufeng Formation of China.
Distribution: found only at Qinglongshan near Muchulang village, Dilophosaurus sinensis holotype
