Type specimens:

  • Proscelidodon gracillimus: MACN 8471. Its type locality is Huayquerías de San Carlos, which is in a Huayquerian terrestrial horizon in the Cerro Azul Formation of Argentina.
  • Elassotherium altirostre: MLP 37-III-7-11, a maxilla. Its type locality is Laguna de los Paraguayos - North of the town, which is in a Huayquerian terrestrial siltstone/siltstone in the Epecuén Formation of Argentina.
  • Proscelidodon almagroi: MACN 2544, a maxilla. Its type locality is Valle de Santa María, which is in a Huayquerian terrestrial horizon in the Andalhualá Formation of Argentina.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution:

• Miocene of Argentina (2)
