Sister taxa: Cheilocephalus brachyops, Cheilocephalus brevilobus, Cheilocephalus granulosus, Pseudolisania hisingeri

Type specimen: USNM 123324, a cephalon/head (cranidium). Its type locality is USGS Coll. 476-CO, which is in a Paibian marine limestone in the Riley Formation of Texas.

Ecology: nektobenthic carnivore
