Sister taxa: Artimonius australis, Artimonius nocerai

Type specimen: YPM-PU 14972, a mandible (left mandibular fragment with p3-p4, m2-m3 and alveoli for the anterior teeth and m1). Its type locality is Cathedral Bluffs (UNSM), which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Wasatch Formation of Wyoming.
