Type specimens:
- Problastomeryx primus: A.M13822, a partial skeleton (fairly complete skull and jaws with limbs and feet, and a few vertebrae).
- Blastomeryx mollis: UCMP 11564, a mandible. Its type locality is Virgin Valley, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Virgin Valley Formation of Nevada.
- Blastomeryx olcotti: A.M. 13224, a partial skeleton (upper and lower jaws, hind limbs, and feet). Its type locality is Blastomeryx olcotti type locality, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.
Distribution:
• Miocene of Canada (1: Saskatchewan collection), United States (6: Idaho, Nebraska, Nevada, Texas)
• Harrisonian of United States (3: Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming)
Total: 10 collections each including a single occurrence
