Type specimens:

  • Cormohipparion ingenuum: USNM 3306, a tooth (upper molar, perhaps the fotirth large one of the series). Its type locality is Mixson's Bone Bed, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Alachua Formation of Florida.
  • Protohippus lenticularis: Its type locality is Goodnight's, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Goodnight Beds Formation of Texas.

• Miocene to Pliocene of United States (2: Florida)

• Miocene of United States (18: Florida, Texas)
