Type specimens:

  • Metatomarctus canavus: FSGS V5260, a mandible (right lower jaw with p2 and p4-m2). Its type locality is Thomas Farm, which is in a Hemingfordian terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the Alachua Formation of Florida.
  • Nothocyon insularis:
  • Tomarctus thomasi: MCZ 3682, a maxilla (portion of left maxilla with P4-M2.).

• Miocene of United States (25: California, Delaware, Florida, Nebraska, New Mexico, Wyoming collections)
