Sister taxa: Protarchaeohyrax gracilis, Protarchaeohyrax minor
Type specimen: SGOPV 3065, paired dentaries bearing left p2 (damaged) p3-m3, and right p3-4, sl, a mandible. Its type locality is Tinguiririca Locality Sets 1 & 2, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial volcaniclastic in the Abanico Formation of Chile.
Ecology: scansorial herbivore
Distribution: found only at Tinguiririca Locality Sets 1 & 2
