Sister taxon: Cynthiacetus peruvianus

Type specimen: MMNS VP 445, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Cynthia Pit, which is in a Priabonian offshore claystone in the Yazoo Formation of Mississippi.

Ecology: aquatic carnivore

Distribution:

• Eocene of United States (10: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina collections)

Total: 10 collections each including a single occurrence
